Fanning the Flame
Please join us this Sunday, February 11, in the FCHS chapel from 6-8 PM for Praise and Worship, Eucharistic Adoration, and Fellowship (Reigniting The Upper Room).
A group of FC students have expressed a desire to reignite “The Upper Room”. For those of you who are not familiar with the history of the Upper Room, here is a brief run-down. In 2004 and 2005 a group of students wanted to do something to keep the enthusiasm for the Faith alive after attending a Kairos retreat. With the help of Fr. Franks, Mrs. Anderson, and others they began meeting in the FC chapel on Sunday nights to adore our Lord, exposed in the Blessed Sacrament. These were simple gatherings of praise, prayer, and fellowship. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit and the fidelity of that core group of students the number of people (both students and adults) grew steadily. During the Octave of Divine Mercy, April 2, 2005 Pope John Paul II passed away. On April 3, 2005, the Feast of Divine Mercy, there were approximately 80 people in the “upper room” (the FCHS chapel) singing, praying, and adoring our Lord while celebrating and mourning the passing of our beloved Pope. 80 people in the FC chapel!!! Well, that core group of students graduated and the prayer meeting went with them. The Spirit of God moves where He will and those students are still deeply anointed today as they minister to Christ as lay people, priests, and religious sisters.
The desire of the current core group of students is to open up a space for the Lord to work powerfully in the life of our community once again. Won’t you join us and be a part of fanning the flame of the Holy Spirit into a blazing fire in our community?
