ST. MARY SCHOOL DRESS CODE

BOYS GRADES K-5:

-  White dress shirt or golf-style shirt with collar, short or long-sleeved (shirts tucked in at all times)

-  White undershirt only (no writing, decorations, or graphics)

-  Solid forest green or navy blue cardigan sweater, long-sleeved pullover sweater, sweater vest, or St. Mary School sweater

-  Gray Home & School designed sweatshirt or plain/plaid “M” sweatshirt only

-  Solid navy blue dress slacks with belt loops (no corduroy, denim, or painter/carpenter style)

-  Solid navy blue walking shorts permitted May 1-October 1 (no corduroy, denim, or painter/carpenter style)

-  White crew socks (socks must be visible)

-  Solid brown, navy blue, or black belts must be worn by grades 4-5 (no buckles, studs, decorations, or cut-outs)

GIRLS GRADES K-5:

-  White dress shirt or golf-style shirt with collar, short or long-sleeved (shirts tucked in at all times)

-  Plaid approved school jumper available through Educational Apparel with white collared shirt (skirts not permitted)

-  Solid forest green or navy blue cardigan sweater, long-sleeved pullover sweater, sweater vest, or St. Mary School sweater

-  Gray Home & School designed sweatshirt or plain/plaid “M” sweatshirt only

-  Solid navy blue dress slacks with belt loops (no corduroy, denim, or painter/ carpenter style)

-  Solid navy blue walking shorts permitted May 1-October 1 (no corduroy, denim, or painter/carpenter style)

-  White crew socks (socks must be visible)

-  Plain white, forest green, or navy knee socks

-  Plain black or navy tights (no tips, tears, or runs)

-  Solid brown, navy blue, or black belts must be worn by grades 4-5 (no buckles, studs, decorations, or cut-outs)

* NOT PERMITTED GRADES K-5 * 

- Hooded sweatshirts or non-uniform sweatshirts worn in school

-  Shirts/sweatshirts/sweaters with logos, decorations, or brand names

-  Turtlenecks

-  Shorts or jumpers higher than 2″ above or below the knee (jumpers must have a normal waistline)

-  Shoes in poor condition (shoes with laces must be tied at all times)

-  Heels over 1″, clogs, beach shoes, or sandals

-  Boots worn during school hours

-  Extreme hairstyles at the discretion of the principal

-  Boys hair below the ears or the collar, or in the eyes (hair must be neatly trimmed)

-  Necklaces (with the exception of religious medals which must be worn inside the shirt)

-  Boys earrings

-  Dangling earrings (girls earrings must be no bigger than the size of a quarter)

-  More than two earrings per ear

-  More than one bracelet

-  Make-up or nail polish

-  Hair coloring

-  Tattoos or body piercings


BOYS GRADES 6-8:

-  Uniform white oxford button down shirt, short or long-sleeved (shirts tucked in at all times)

-  White undershirt only (no writing, decorations, or graphics)

-  Solid green or gray uniform crew neck or v-neck sweater

-  Uniform ties worn everyday (required August/September and May at the discretion of the principal)

-  Black uniform pants with belt loops only

-  Black uniform walking shorts only, permitted May 1-October 1

-  Solid black belt (no buckles, studs, decorations, or cut-outs)

-  Black or white crew socks (socks must be visible)

-  Black or brown leather dress shoes, white, black, or black and white tennis shoes

GIRLS GRADES 6-8:

-  Uniform white oxford button down shirt, short or long-sleeved (shirts tucked in at all times)

-  White undershirt or cami only (no writing, decorations, or graphics)

-  Solid green or gray uniform cardigan, crew neck, or v-neck sweater

-  Uniform jumper

-  Black uniform pants with belt loops only (no capris)

-  Black uniform walking shorts only, permitted May 1-October 1 (no capris)

-  Solid black belt (no buckles, studs, decorations, or cut-outs)

-  Black or white crew socks (socks must be visible)

-  Black or gray knee high socks

-  Plain black or gray opaque tights (no rips, tears, or runs)

-  Black or brown leather dress shoes, plain gray flats or tennis shoes

-  Light make-up only (foundation, light color eyeshadow, mascara – no eyeliner or dark eyeshadow)

* NOT PERMITTED GRADES 6-8 *

** STUDENTS MUST REMAIN IN FULL UNIFORM UNTIL THEY LEAVE THE PREMISES ***

 

PERMITTED CASUAL DAY APPAREL K-8:

-  Jeans, corduroy pants, sweatpants, knit pants, cargo pants, or uniform pants

-  Walking shorts May 1-October 1 (cargo shorts and capri pants permitted)

-  Sleeveless shirts

-  Hooded sweatshirts

-  Dress shoes or tennis shoes (socks must be worn)

* NOT PERMITTED ON CASUAL DAYS GRADES K-8 *

-  Shorts higher than 2″ above the knee

-  Short, biker, stretch/tight-fitting, or frayed shorts or pants

-  Ripped jeans, pants, or shorts

-  Pants or shorts with writing or words on the backside

-  Pajama pants

-  Any clothing with words or illustrations contrary to our school philosophy (references to liquor, drugs, explicit pictures, words, or phrases, etc)

-  Mesh shirts or tank tops

-  Bare midriffs or low-cut shirts

-  Hats or caps

-  Heels over 1″, clogs, beach shoes, open toe shoes, or sandals

-  Boots worn during school hours

 

** On specially designated Casual Days (OSU-Michigan Day, St. Patrick’s Day, etc) students must wear a shirt or colors in accordance with that day.  Students not in accordance with specially designated days must be in uniforms. **
