Our Father

“The Lord’s Prayer “is truly the summary of the whole gospel.” “Since the Lord…after handling over the practice of prayer, said elsewhere, ‘Ask and you will receive,’ and since everyone has petitions which are peculiar to his circumstances, the regular and appropriate prayer is said first, as the foundation of further desires.”- Catechism of the Catholic Church; 2761.

 

Our Father, Who art in heaven,

Hallowed be Thy Name.

Thy Kingdom come.

Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary

“Beginning with Mary’s unique cooperation with the working of the Holy Spirit, the Churches developed their prayer to the holy Mother of God, centering it on the Person of Christ manifested in His mysteries. In countless hymns and antiphons expressing this prayer, two movements usually alternate with one another: the first “magnifies” the Lord for the “great things” He did for His lowly servant and through her for all human beings. The second entrusts the supplications and praises of the children of God to the Mother of Jesus, because she now knows the humanity which, in her, the Son of God espoused.”- Catechism of the Catholic Church; 2675.

 

Hail Mary,

Full of Grace,

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among women,

and blessed is the fruit

of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

pray for us sinners now,

and at the hour of death.

Amen.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father,

and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning,

is now,

and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael the ArchAngel

St. Michael the Archangel,

defend us in battle.

Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,

and do thou,

O Prince of the heavenly hosts,

by the power of God,

thrust into hell Satan,

and all the evil spirits,

who prowl about the world

seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

The Angelus
[Rings at St. Mary at 7:30am, 12noon, 6pm]

The Angel of the Lord declared to Mary:

And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of
our death. Amen.

Behold the handmaid of the Lord:

Be it done unto me according to Thy word.

And dwelt among us.

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.



Let us pray:

Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Act of Contrition:
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended thee. I detest all my sins because of thy just punishments, but most of all because they have offend thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.

Prayer to your Guardian Angel

“From infancy to death human life is surrounded by their (the angels) watchful care and intercession. Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life. Already here on earth the Christian life shares by faith in the blessed company of angels and men united to God.”- Catechism of the Catholic Church; 336.

Angel of God,

my guardian dear,

To whom God’s love

commits me here,

Ever this day,

be at my side,

To light and guard,

Rule and guide.

Amen.

Thanksgiving after Holy Mass

Lord, Father all-powerful and ever-living God, I thank You, for

even though I am a sinner, your unprofitable servant, not

because of my worth but in the kindness of your mercy,

You have fed me with the Precious Body & Blood of Your Son,

our Lord Jesus Christ.

I pray that this Holy Communion may not bring me

condemnation and punishment but forgiveness and salvation.

May it be a helmet of faith and a shield of good will.

 May it purify me from evil ways and put an end to my evil passions.

May it bring me charity and patience, humility and obedience,

and growth in the power to do good.

May it be my strong defense against all my enemies, visible and invisible, and the perfect calming of all my evil impulses,

bodily and spiritual.

May it unite me more closely to you, the One true God, and lead me

safely through death to everlasting happiness with You.

And I pray that You will lead me, a sinner, to the banquet where you,

with Your Son and holy Spirit, are true and perfect light, total fulfillment, everlasting joy, gladness without end, and perfect

happiness to your saints. grant this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
