Religion:  The students are currently on Chapter 19, the role of prayer is the Church community.  With Mr. McCauley coming in on Tuesday and Mass on Thursday, the students will be taking the test on Monday, May 20th.  The Chapter Review will be assigned on Wednesday, but not due until Monday.

 Social Studies:  Students are moving on to discuss Imperialism and the causes of WWI.  We will be reviewing and having a year-end final next week.  The final will be on Friday, May 24th.  It will not be a detailed final, but I want to make sure that the students know the benchmarks that are required for 7th grade.

Language Arts:  Some students are finishing up their group stories, they will be read to our second grade buddies.

Students are working on Vocabulary Unit 14.  Exercises were assigned on Monday and are due Wednesday.  The girls are to answer the even number questions, the boys the odd numbers.  The test will be on Thursday.

Literature:  The students worked on an activity for The Princess Bride, and will be designing a collage of scenes from the story.  This is class work and will be due next Tuesday.

********REMINDERS

THE DANCE IS THIS SATURDAY IN THE SPIRIT CENTER FROM 7-10PM.  THANK YOU TO ALL PARENTS THAT HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO DECORATE AND CHAPERONE.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR SNACKS/SODA FOR THE DANCE.

FRIDAY IS OUR HOUSE TRIP TO THE ZOO.  STUDENTS MAY COME DRESSED IN CASUAL DAY ATTIRE, BUT THEY ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR THEIR HOUSE SHIRTS.  WE WILL BE RECOGNIZED BY THE ZOO FOR OUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE “ADOPT AN ANIMAL” PROGRAM THAT WAS SPONSORED BY THE HOUSE OF ST. PETER.    A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE HOUSE OF ST PETER FOR ORGANIZING THE TRIP AND A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO JOHN LEWIS FOR ALL HIS HARD WORK.

Campfire to Courthouse permission slips will be coming home on Tuesday. Our guided tour of  historic Lancaster is scheduled for May 20th.

8th Grade Homework May 13, 2013

Language Arts:  Students are to write a nightly writer’s notebook entry.  Quarter 4 poems are due May 16.

Social Studies:  We are working in class on group/partner presentations dealing with a battle of the Civil War.  Presentations begin Monday.

Math:  The students’ shape olympics project is due Wednesday.

Religion:  There is a chapter 9 test tomorrow (Tues.).  The Get Connected is due then, too.

Our middle school zoo field trip is this Friday, May 17.  If you are driving, it would be helpful if you could stop in the office one day this week to show your driver’s license and proof of insurance.  On Friday, please arrive to school at 8:00 as we hope to leave at 8:15.  We are returning to school at 3:00.

We are arriving back to school at 3:00, which is after bus dismissal.  Students who ride a bus will need to have transportation home.

Students are to wear their House shirts and if they do not have it, they are to wear school uniform.  This is a House community day.  Students are to pack a lunch.

8th Grade Homework May 5, 2013

Language Arts:  Students are to write in their writer’s notebook nightly.  There is a unit 10 vocabulary test Tuesday with a practice exercise tonight.  Quarter 4 poems are due May 16.

Social Studies:  There is a Civil War map quiz Wednesday.

Math:  Quiz tomorrow over chapter 11.

Religion:  There is a grandparents’ mass this Thursday  at 9:00 with May Crowning.  Please join us!

Field trip permission forms are due May 8.  Please consider driving as 8th grade does not have enough drivers at this time.  Thank you.
