Reminder to St. Mary Athletes

Reminder to all fall athletes-  current athletic physicals must be completed and the appropriate form completed by the attending physician before the student athlete is permitted to practice.  Forms are available from coaches or from Athletic Director Brett Seimer.  Additionally, emergency contact forms also must be completed and returned to coaches as soon as possible.  Athletic Director Seimer will be out of town from 7/30 through 8/4.

St. Mary School would like to welcome Mr. Brett Seimer as our new Athletic Director! Mr. Seimer, a high school teacher and tennis coach in Logan, has been a St. Mary’s parent for many years.  He has coached and been involved with a variety of sports programs throughout the years, from basketball and tennis, to baseball and soccer.  Mr. Seimer is committed to maintaining a successful athletic program for St. Mary School while stressing the importance of academics in eligibility, increasing fundraising efforts to sustain athletics, and utilizing athletics as a means of promoting school spirit.

Fighting Irish Football and Cheer Registration 2012

It is time to register for youth football and cheerleading for the fall of 2012.  Our football teams will play an 8 game schedule with 4 home games at Fisher Catholic High School and 4 away games within our league.  League schools include Amanda, Liberty Union, Millersport, Fairfield Christian, Canal Winchester, Harvest Prep and Berne Union – all within a 20 minute drive of Lancaster.  Football and Cheer are a great way for your child to get exercise and have a great experience in late summer and fall.  We have purchased brand new football helmets for the 2012 season!  Youth football is safe and fun!

Football Eligibility:  St. Mary, St. Bernadette & St. John’s boys in 2^nd thru 6^th grade for the 2012 – 2013 school year.

Football Teams:  JV team is 2^nd thru 4^th grade boys & Varsity team is 5^th & 6^th grade boys.

Cheer Eligibility:  St. Mary, St. Bernadette & St. John’s girls in 1^st thru 6^th grade for the 2012 – 2013 school year.

Cheer Teams:  Similar to above depending on participation.

Cost to Participate:  $90 for football players and $75 for each cheerleader.  There is a $180 family cap for any combination of cheer / football.  No player or cheerleader will be denied the right to play for financial reasons.

Registration Information:  Please print your registration form from the Fighting Irish Youth Football website and mail in before June 21^st with your payment.  Players and cheerleaders will be sized for equipment and uniforms on the first day of practice on July 30th.  Registration forms and payment to be mailed to:  Chad Gauerke – 1643 Autumn Drive – Lancaster, OH  43130.

Coaching Volunteers:  Football and cheer coaches are always needed.  Interested parties should contact me as soon as possible.

Athletic Physicals for 2012-2013

Fisher Catholic will be providing athletic physicals, Saturday, June 16th at 10 a.m., for students attending St. Mary, St. Rose, and Holy Trinity who will be in middle school or high school next school year.

Physical forms may be downloaded here, or picked up from the information holder outside the school office. The cost is $5. All students who plan to participate in sports next year in middle school or high school must have a physical form completed and turned into the athletic director before beginning practice.

If you are unable to attend, physicals may be performed by your family doctor or an urgent care facility.

Sports Physicals for 2012-13 7th and 8th Grade Students

The Ohio High School Athletic Association requires that all student athletes have a yearly physical. Free physicals will NOT be offered this year by area physicians, as in the past. Your child will have to go to his/her physician, urgent care or any clinic that offers a complete physical and has a physician/medical examiner to sign the form. The Preparticipation Physical Forms are available online or in the information file located outside the school office.

This is a six page document. Page 1 needs to be completed by the parent and student athlete together. Page 2 is for an athlete with special needs, pages 3 and 4 are for the physician, pages 5 and 6 are for the student athlete, parent and school principal to read and sign.

If you have further questions, please call the school office at 740-654-1632.

**Your child must have the signed physical on file in order to participate in pre-conditioning, practice or games next school year.
